What does the VG:PG ratio mean in Nicofresh e-liquids?
VG and PG stand for Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol. These are the two main ingredients used in e-liquids.
VG (Vegetable Glycerin)
VG is a thick, sweet liquid. High VG liquids produce denser and more voluminous clouds of vapour, making them popular with cloud chasers. VG also imparts a slightly sweet taste to e-liquids, which can slightly alter the intended flavour profile. VG is smoother when inhaled, making it less likely to cause a throat hit.
PG (Propylene Glycol)
PG is thinner than VG and carries flavour more effectively. E-liquids with a higher PG ratio tend to deliver flavours more intensely and produce a stronger throat hit, which can make the experience more similar to traditional smoking. PG is also less likely to build up residue in the vaping equipment than VG.
The VG:PG ratio in an e-liquid can significantly affect the vaping experience. A higher VG ratio (like 70/30) will produce thicker clouds and a smoother throat hit, while a higher PG ratio (like 30/70) will provide a stronger flavour and a more pronounced throat hit.

What are Nicofresh Salts?
Nicofresh salts are just the branded name for nicotine salts. They are created by taking freebase nicotine and combining it with an acid (usually benzoic acid), which lowers the pH level and makes it less harsh to inhale at higher concentrations.
This process also allows the nicotine to be absorbed into the body more quickly, providing a more immediate and intense nicotine hit that is similar to that of a traditional cigarette.
Nicofresh salts are a popular choice for people who are trying to quit smoking, as they can provide a similar level of satisfaction to a traditional cigarette, without the harmful combustion products.
What does nicotine mg mean?
When referring to e-liquids or nicotine solutions, the “mg” represents the concentration of nicotine in the solution. It’s a way to quantify the strength of the nicotine present in a given volume of e-liquid.
In our Nicofresh e-liquid range, we have the following nicotine strengths available;

The 6mg nicotine concentration is the lowest nicotine concentration we have available in the Nicofresh range. This provides a lighter nicotine hit which is a great option for those seeking to cut out their nicotine intake completely.
The 18mg of nicotine is the strongest Nicofresh e-liquid that we have available, which is generally a good option for someone who is transitioning from traditional tobacco smoking to vaping less harmful e-liquids.
Nicotine Strength in Traditional Cigarettes
For comparison, a traditional tobacco cigarette contains about 8 to 20mg of nicotine, but not all of that nicotine is absorbed during smoking. The actual amount absorbed is closer to 1 mg for a light cigarette and up to 2mg or more for a strong cigarette.
Understanding the nicotine concentration is crucial for vapers, especially those who mix their own e-liquids or are trying to reduce their nicotine intake. It helps users gauge the strength of their vape and can assist in gradually reducing nicotine consumption if that’s a goal.
Does e-liquid expire?
Over time, the nicotine in the e-liquid can oxidise, which might change its colour and potentially its taste. The shelf life of e-liquids, including Nicofresh or any other brand, typically ranges from 1 to 2 years. However, the exact duration can vary based on several factors:
Ingredients: Some flavourings might degrade faster than others.
Storage Conditions: E-liquids should be stored in a cool, dark place. Exposure to heat, light, or air can degrade the nicotine and flavourings more quickly.
Nicotine Content: Higher nicotine concentrations might oxidise and degrade faster than lower concentrations.
If you’re unsure about the age or quality of an e-liquid:
- Check for an expiration date on the bottle.
- Look for any changes in colour, consistency, or smell.
Whilst e-liquids generally have a long-lasting shelf life, if you’re in doubt, it’s best to dispose of old or questionable e-liquid safely.
What is Shortfill E-liquid?
“Shortfill” e-liquids refer to bottles of vape juice that are not filled to capacity. This is done intentionally to leave space for the addition of nicotine shots or boosters.
Shortfills allow users to customise the nicotine strength of their e-liquid. By adding a certain amount of concentrated nicotine shot to the shortfill bottle, users can achieve their desired nicotine concentration.
Shortfills are also cost-effective and convenient. Vapers can buy e-liquid in bulk and adjust the nicotine level to their preference. It also reduces the number of 10ml bottles they would otherwise have to purchase and dispose of.
